Mixed Feelings

I’m having mixed feelings about my new calling to Primary. I think that the calling is great and I know that I could learn a lot from who I’d be teaching with, but I just think that the timing is not right. I don’t feel comfortable leaving Gino to attend Sunday school by himself. He’s so new to all of this and I can see him falling away from the church a little bit. Not wanting to stay after Sacrament, and I just think he’s too new of a member to do this to.

I feel bad going and turning down my calling, but something inside of me keeps screaming that I need to turn it down.

I don’t know what to do. 🙁

  1. The gospel is true wheather you are there or not! I think sacrament is the most important part anyway. Heavenly Father called you to teach primary; he knows whats best! Good Luck! Can’t wait to see you at church tomorrow! P.S. I didn’t mean to sound rude, do what you think is right for your family! I’m just really excited for you to be in primary!

  2. Be sure to express your feelings to the Bishop. I was called to the Primary when my husband wasn’t a member but was coming to Church with me. When I went to Primary he wouldn’t attend Sunday School like he did if I was there. I discussed it with my Bishop and he was concerned about that so they released me after only two Sundays. My husband is now a Stake leader. Discuss it with your Bishop and follow his counsel. Every situation is different. He may advise you to stay in your calling. If so, then stay in it. You will be blessed by following your leaders.

  4. Hi
my mum felt the same way when she was called to serve as 2nd councellor in primary, she cried for days, begged through prayer to not ‘have’ to do it etc so she went to talk to the branch president who offered to pray with her, he told her he would respect her decision but would she hold off for another week before refusing it.
After the prayer my mum felt a calm in her heart but still felt wrong about the calling.
A week later she had noted down lots of things that had come her way that showed her that altho she didnt feel she could serve, by doing so would increase hers and those around her faith and commitment.
Moving on, my older two boys are now 19 and 18, both inactive because of a very insensitive sunday school teacher, BUT they will attend certain events and activities and very very occasionally come to sacrament, all i have done is show HAPPINESS about the gospel, about people, about going to church about anything related.
My younger two are 12 and 4, they often dont want to go to church but prayers give me faith to trust Heavenly Father to work on their hearts while I carry on quietly and positively preparing to get there!
    It always works.
But when all is said and done, it is your choice, I just urge you to pray and even fast over it first before you say no.
    Miracles do happen!! 😉
    Hugs

    Debs x
