What I did and what I need to do!

In my last post I talked about how it just dawned on me that it’s Tuesday. Not good. So, I’m a little late here, but it’s Tackle It Tuesday.

1. My main tackle of the week was keeping up with my laundry that I finally accomplished.

2. I went through all of Ella’s clothes and bagged up anything that didn’t fit her anymore and took it to my cousin for her to use on her baby.

It was such a busy week that’s the only major accomplishments I did.

I’m going to write out some goals that I hope to have done for next week:

1. Organize spice/medicine cupboard

2. File away all of my work that has consumed my kitchen table

3. Go through my closet and bag up clothes to take to goodwill

Those are simple and very easily be accomplished. I will have before and after pictures next Tuesday 🙂 ~ In the meantime have a very happy week!!

Refreshing Scent

It’s just dawning on me that today is indeed Tuesday. I can’t believe it! I’ve been going around all day thinking it was Monday. I actually even forgot to do FHE last night. I had a GREAT FHE planned and I’m just so backwards on my days…. oh well.

Tuesday means Kitchen Tip Tuesday. This is something that probably the whole world knows about, but it was news to me. Since it was news to me I’m hoping that it will be news to someone else. Whenever you peel an orange dropped the peelings in your garbage disposal and they will make a pretty orangey smell. You can also do this with lemon, but I prefer orange peelings.

For other great Kitchen Tips head over to Tammy’s Blog ~ And have a beautiful week.

Wretched little fire ants!

Ever since we’ve moved to Oregon there’s one thing I have definitely not liked. Fire ants! Those wretched little things make outings not so enjoyable. We love to go on picnics and these pesky little buggers can ruin the whole experience.

I came across a website that can give you some great advice on how to kill fire ants. If you’ve ever been stung by a fire ant there’s treatment advice on this site as well. I love the tactic on their site on pouring boiling water into their colony to get rid of them…. how mean is that! I’ve heard it works though.

My Home Makeover

We recently bought a couch. We had owned our couches for 7 years before our recent purchase. I love furniture. I think that furniture screams who you are, what you like, and what your personality is like. My old couches represented who I used to be, but we’ve changed. Life has gotten better for us and we now have a couch that fits our new life.

In the process of upgrading our new furniture I’ve come across a GREAT website that has beautiful furniture. Since we’ve already completed our living room we’re moving on now to our bedroom furniture. They have BEAUTIFUL bed sets that I have completely fallen in love with. I’d love to be able to have some zebra chairs in my room too! The prices are pretty competitive as well.

After we finish our bedroom and make it into our sanctuary we will be moving on to my office. I work from home and in now way have the furniture that I need to have everything organized the way I need it. The home office furniture that they have on their website would work out perfect for me!! I can’t wait to get started on the rest of my home makeover.

Starting your day out right….

It’s another week of Works for Me Wednesday. I’m sitting here looking around my living room and it looks like a tornado has flipped through it. I’m exhausted and wanting nothing more than to crawl into bed. I look over at my kitchen, and my counters are filled with dishes from dinner and the day since I was busy trying to get work done & dealing with a high maintenance baby, and once again, nobody thought to put THEIR dish in the dishwasher.

My entire house is asleep and I can’t help but sit on my butt and treasure the silence. I don’t want to clean my house and I know that when I wake up in the morning if I walk down those stairs and I get one glimpse of what I’m staring at right now I won’t only have claws for the entire day, but not one thing will go right for me. Instead of spending the beginning of my day being organized and happy, sipping my coffee (YES I STILL DRINK COFFEE) I will be mad. I will not be able to start work, because I will be having to clean up my house. Then, my entire schedule will be completely messed up and then I’ll get depressed, because the things that I actually HAD to do did not get done. All because I woke up to a messy house.

So, what works for me is getting off my butt and making sure that my kitchen and my living room are presentable so that when I wake up and I walk down those stairs I can have a smile on my face.

Now, I have to actually go and do this unfortunately.

Airing My Dirty Laundry

I’ve been lurking on this carnival for some time now, but I just didn’t have it in me to get to tackling. Well, all that’s over! Most of the times the girls post before & after pictures of what they’ve tackled. I didn’t do that this week. Next week, however, I will definitely have pictures up of the great, amazing things I accomplish! This is everything I’ve tackled………

My entire bottom of my closet was a mound of dirty clothes. I have shelving in my closet that sometimes requires me to grab a chair to reach and I actually could just walk up my mound of dirty clothes to reach what I wanted. Pathetic huh? Well, I spent all day Saturday, part of Sunday & part of today doing laundry. I think I have 4 loads left and they will be done tomorrow. The biggest accomplishment of it all is that I have folded, hung & put away every article of clothing. Socks have been matched and put away. If you are someone who knows me you know laundry is a HUGE issue with me. So, this is by far the best tackling job I’ve EVER done!

I had a huge list of things to get done for work that I have dreadfully been putting off. Today I sat down and read this quote (please go read it, it really is an inspirational quote!!) and started in on it. I didn’t get my kitchen table cleaned off like I had wanted to, but I got some extremely important things done and I’m actually looking forward to tackling more of it tomorrow.

I must thank you for stopping by and make sure that you go to www.5minutesformom.com and check out what others are tackling.

Don’t Let The Bed Bugs Bite

Sweet dream, sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite. This is one phrase we’ve all heard in our lives at one point or another. In my son’s case every single night. I didn’t even know that bed bugs really do exist until a couple of years ago. It made me want to throw out my mattress and get a new one every year!

I just found a website that actually shows you the signs of bedbugs and gives you natural remedies and advice on how to get rid of them. The website’s called Bed Bugs Guide. I think I might have to go and buy a zipping mattress cover, because I kinda don’t want to sleep in my bed now. This is so disgusting and while I wish I never came across this I’m kindof glad I did, because I’d rather know about it than not know about it. Does that make sense?

Will this overwhelming feeling go away??

Do you ever get an overwhelming feeling deep inside, yet you have no clue where it’s coming from? I feel utterly overwhelmed. It might be because I got so far behind on my work and I cannot stand having work to do built up. I’m so tempted to stay up all night sorting through papers and doing things of dire importance, but honestly where is that going to get me? NO WHERE! I’ll be exhausted for tomorrow and then things will only get worse. I think the best thing to do in this situation is…………………………………………………….. TAKE A BATH, RELAX, READ A BOOK & GO TO BED! And that is exactly what I’m going to do.

Tomorrow is a momentous day for me. If you know me you know that no matter how hard I try to keep up on things (housekeeping) I always fail. Even with the wonderful Flylady, she honestly does work, but only if I stick with it. Lately, my work and kids keep me so busy that I don’t even have much time for the Flylady. Tomorrow a house keeper is coming into my home to scrub it down from top to bottom and I’m ecstatic. I met with her today and I absolutely LOVE her! She’s so sweet and Ella even loved her. My goal is to only need her 2 days/week. I think that this overwhelming feeling burrowing inside of me will dwindle away as I put my feet up in a very clean home, with my work done. Yes, tomorrow I’m going full fledged, people. I’m putting in a full 8 hours and at the end of the day I will have a smile on my face and hopefully the best sleep of my life.

In the meantime – Twilight here I come.

Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites!!! Hope you enjoy and please go check out these girls’ blogs!!

The microwave in my house gets dirty quick. And it’s always kinda difficult to clean for some reason. I just read on Squibs and Crackers that you microwave a bowl for 5 minutes w/part vinegar in it and part lemon juice. After the 5 minutes is up it’s an easy wipe off. I think I might go buy some lemon juice and try this out tomorrow.

I throw my heels of my bread away. I don’t like them. I read on GreenStyleMom today how to make them into breadcrumbs! Whole wheat breadcrumbs at that. Put the bread in the broiler for a few seconds – just to dry out – then put in your blender or food processor then put in jar and use as bread crumbs! SCORE! So using this technique.

Do you LOVE baked potatoes? I do. I love potato anything. I learned from Beans & Rice that if you wash your potato, poke holes in them and then wrap in foil you can place them in your CROCKPOT (MY BEST FRIEND) and cook on high for 2 1/2-4 hours or low 6-8 hours and you will have perfect, moist potatoes…. how perfect is that?

Have a Cup of Jesus has a great idea!! Olive Oil for make up remover and skin moisturizer. Just might have to try this one too!
