Your Dreams

Do you dream big? So many people in this world are stuck in what I call a big, fat rut! I’m so like this myself at times, but sometimes we get to a point where we are comfortable and used to the same thing every day. What growth are we getting from this? I’m getting to this point. Everyday I wake up to the same thing…. there’s no challenge, there’s nothing big that I’m working towards and that will keep me in this rut.

So I’m changing this. I’m sitting down and mapping out my dreams… it doesn’t matter how big your dreams are, what matters is that you have dreams. If you don’t have a dream of what to work towards how in the world do you expect to ever progress in life. You can easily get lost in the every day life if there isn’t something motivating you to be big.

Why are you doing what it is that you do every day of your life? Are you at a point in your life that you expected yourself to be at? If not… why? Do you have your goals and dreams in a place where you can see them every, single day? The only way that we can grow and achieve things that we want is if they are in front of us… every, single day.  Make a dream board, make a dream journal… just make sure you are seeing your dreams every day and are doing what you can to achieve them.

I did not have the best week ever… but I’m going to try to turn that around this week. I’m focusing on the positive.  I get so stressed out sometimes with work and my kids and the house and then feel like I completely suck at everything… and I know that I’m not the only one who feels this way.

I read this poem somewhere.. I have no idea who to give it credit to, so if you know who wrote it please let me know so I can credit the writer.

Dear Lord, it’s such a hectic day
With little time to stop and pray
For life’s been anything but calm
Since You called on me to be a mom
Running errands, matching socks
Building dreams with building blocks
Cooking, cleaning, and finding shoes
And other stuff that children lose
Gitting lids on bottled bugs
Wiping tears and giving hugs
A stack of last week’s mail to read
So where’s the quiet time I need?
Yet when I steal a minute, Lord
Just at the sink or ironing board
To ask the blessings of Your grace
I see then, in my small one’s face
That you have blessed me
All the while
And I stop to kiss
That precious smile

I want to talk for a minute on why this poem really hits home with me.  We strive to do a million things throughout the days/weeks and we need to stop to appreciate the biggest blessings that we have received and it’s the sweet faces of our babies.  I hope that this post motivates you to do something special with your children this week.  Something out of the ordinary, something that lets them and you know that they truly matter.  They truly are the reason for every single thing that we do in this life.  They are the reason you are keeping your blog, they are the reason you feel complete.  Stop, kiss that precious smile and be thankful for the stressful moments, the screaming moments, the tears and fears…. because it’s all a blessing and a beautiful one at that.

I have just gotta apologize for skipping out on Just a Motivating Monday last week! Things were crazy busy in such a good way around these parts that I completely could not get to it… but this is a new week, and this week we’re starting this week off RIGHT!

Sometimes we don’t find the time that we need for silence… our moments of sorting our thoughts, feeling the feelings in our heart that point us in the direction or path that will define our life.  These times of silence and relaxation are so important for our souls.  If we just continue to go on and on without taking a time out for ourselves

“Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.”  ~Pooh’s Little Instruction Book, inspired by A.A. Milne

We run, run, run and try to do everything in our little power to rush a million things in a day that only has so many hours. I do this EVERY, SINGLE DAY! I am going to make it a point to follow Pooh’s Little Instruction Book and find time to do nothing, listen to the things that can’t be heard and to find time to take a hot, hot, hot bath with candles, soft music and NOT BE BOTHERED!

I would love it if you left a comment and let me know things you do to relax.

Every week I do a post on something inspiring. Something that might touch your soul and inspire you in some way. Sometimes people link up with things that motivate them, and that’s okay. There’s no wrong way with this carnival and I just wanted to throw that out there. You can link up motivating or inspiring…. either way it will move us ๐Ÿ™‚
I believe that we as women should stand and be an example for the things we believe in. I believe that the way we present ourselves to people, and the way we treat people should reflect a woman of faith, of passion, of love, of respect for self and respect for God.

I personally have a very strong Faith that I hold inside. Do I always present myself with this? No, I don’t. I should, and I strive to, but sometimes being a human gets the best of me. Sometimes I say things I shouldn’t, sometimes I do things I shouldn’t, but I have my own personal goals between My Heavenly Father and I and how I achieve these are between Him and me.

We as woman hold such a strong key to our eternity. There are very successful men and women, but in the beginning what makes them succeed the most is if they have a mother who followed Proverbs 22:16 โ€œTrain up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from itโ€ In order to train up a child in the way he or she should go, don’t you think you need to be the best example to them?

You don’t have to be religious to hold a certain respect for the woman that you are. Why not be an example for other girls in your life. Why not show them that you are a respectable woman, you have a great purpose on this earth and you are rocking it as a mom, because you are striving to be everything you can. It takes no more and no less to be that awesome.

With that little note said, I’m writing yet another piece on something that inspires me….
Greet one another with a kiss of love — 1 Peter 5:14

It’s the little things in life that matter. It’s the casual smile, the squeeze of the hand, the random phone call in the middle of the day that truly screams “I LOVE YOU!”

I’m hoping to inspire you to do something random and beautiful for your marriage today….. Choose one of the following ideas and do them! Yes, I’m totally stealing these ideas from the book Fireproof:

Call your husband at work and just ask how his day is going

Write a love letter and leave it inside of his pants/shirt pockets

Don’t say anything negative to your spouse (this is hard, but well worth it!)

Do a random act of kindness

One thing I am starting to learn and try my hardest in practicing in my marriage is to wake up thinking what can I do to make his day happy. It’s hard, sometimes we as human beings tend to want to be selfish, but in a marriage you can’t be selfish. You will see that if you start living your life to make your husband happy, make his life easier, happier he will in turn want to do the same for you. So in the end it’s a win/win… and if he doesn’t in turn do that, that feeling of doing nice things for your husband are well worth it!

“An act of God was defined as something which no reasonable man could have expected.”  ~Author Unknown

I was planning on something completely different for this Motivating Monday, something geared towards pregnancy loss since we just celebrated the 3 year anniversary of the loss of our baby, Mya.

I’m not going there today. Instead I want to talk about a miracle. On Friday I {wrote a post} on an accident that my friend’s sister got into. An accident that resulted in the death of her husband and blood clots on her brain, a broken neck and more injuries. An accident that also involved a 3 month old baby girl.  I know, not very motivating, highly depressing, but there’s a reason why I’m using this story for my Motivating Monday.

We come upon moments in life where we are in desperate need of a miracle.  Things happen sometimes that leave us speechless wondering… how?  How is this possible.  My opinion… these miracles come straight from our Heavenly Father above.
The car accident that happened on Thursday night somehow produced a miracle.  The miracle was that the baby was in her car seat, yet the seat belt came unconnected from the car.  The only thing wrong with baby  Cora is that she has a chipped toenail.  How that is possible?  Nothing less, nothing more than a miracle straight from above.

Sometimes when we think that the impossible is impossible we’re wrong.  Sometimes a miracle can happen right before I eyes.  I don’t know how Cora is completely okay, I don’t know how a lot of miracles in life happen, but the thing is they do.

I’m going to say that we should never lose hope on anything in life, because we NEVER know when God will be there to pick up the pieces, put them together and create a masterpiece that we call our miracle.

My continued prayers are with the Doshier & Alder families.  If you would like to express your prayers for the family please do so by going {HERE} to Katie & Ryan’s personal blog.  It’s heart breaking to see their happy pictures together and then to read of such a tragedy striking them.  They do update this blog with all news….. they need all the prayers that they can get.  Not only for the recovery of Katie, but also for the mending of all hearts for the loss of Ryan.

“I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much.” ~Mother Teresa

I don’t think that this life was ever intended to be easy. I know that we are here to learn and to grow, and a free, easy ride is definitely not going to help us out there. Why does it sometimes have to get downright dirty then?

There is a lot of tragedy in this world, and unimaginable things actually happen to people…. people who you wonder how in the world they do it. They do though. They get through those unimaginable life events, they move on, they grow, they learn, and sometimes they have enough strength to hug someone who is going through what they once endured and give the exact support they need.

I do tell myself often, we will get through this. We always get through everything, and we have experienced some not so fun circumstances. I think back on one of the most heart wrenching things I’ve ever had to go through and that was losing our baby girl, {Mya}. You hear of 2nd and 3rd trimester losses, but never think it will happen to you. Although it was heart wrenching, I got through it. Although I miss her, I’m still here, and have found happiness in my life regardless of the traumatic even I had to endure.  I have found reason as to why it happened…. because I really, truly believe that everything happens for a reason…. and sometimes we just have to search for that reason.  I found a rainbow at the end of my storm and that rainbow is a beautiful, precious little girl that I can’t get enough of.  If there was a Mya, there’d be no Ella.

I wish God didn’t trust me as much as he does sometimes, but the thing is he does trust me. He knows that I will find a way to learn and grow from the experiences that I have to go through, but I still sometimes wonder why. I do have enough faith, however, to know there definitely is some reason. If I stick around and try to figure it out I usually find the answer, and then try to accept it, learn from it and more importantly grow from it.

We might not like that God trusts us as much as he does, but the thing is he does trust us, and that in itself is an honor.

Today has been everything but motivating for me, so I am back tracking and bringing up a wonderful quote (already once posted here at Garibay Soup) that EVERY MOTHER should read. It’s short, simple, but is definitely inspiring to me and hopefully to you as well. I hope to see people link up and help to motivate this Monday for me!!

Something that we all should remember. Here’s a quote from Gordon B. Hinckley..

“Do the best you can. And remember that the greatest asset you have in this world is those children who you’ve brought into the world, and for whose nurture and care you’re responsible.”

Our homes don’t have to be perfect. The main thing that matters is that our children are getting the love, care and attention that they so deserve. They are the reason we exist.

After the day I had to day I must say I was not in the mood to write anything inspiring for anybody, because I was just downright now inspired!

We’ve all had a day where it all just started going wrong, it was like bad events had a domino effect going on. That’s how I felt today was. Now, I sit here, with sleeping babies, peace in the house and the Kardashians on my TV….. needless to say I’m happy and ready to start writing.

This week my best friend in the entire world is up in Oregon visiting from my home town Sacramento. I find our friendship so inspiring and felt like sharing it with you, here on Just a Motivating Monday.

I have always been a different person when it comes to friends. I know people have tons of them, and I only hold a small few in my hands. Once you become my friend, you will always remain my friend, and I think that’s why I am so picky choosing them.

Jenise and I have been friends since as far back as I can remember, we started our first day of school together. I have moved many, many times (that’s a whole other post I need to write about!) But through it all, Jenise has always been there. Even when we were 12 and separated we kept in contact by letters, but I always returned back to that small town Jackson, California.

Jenise has always been the one I cry to, she is always the first person I think of when I have good news, bad news, or just need a friend to be there for me….. no matter where I live. It’s hard to find the right words to express the friendship that I feel so honored to have. Not everyone is blessed to have a friendship like we have, and I couldn’t be more thankful.

I am inspired by the unconditional love that we hold for each other. I believe that we should all hold this kind of love for our best friends. Don’t let the petty stuff EVER get in the way of your friendship, because it’s never worth it. Just remember that while you might not always agree with each other, you will always love each other.

Jenise has put up with so much crap from me, and I’m so lucky that she holds this unconditional love for me, because NOTHING could ever get in the way of our friendship, and since we are so close…. we would never do anything to each other to jeopardize it.

Neener, I love you to death and I am so grateful that you are my best friend. I would move mountains for you if I could, and I will always be here…. no matter what it is that you need.

This was originally posted on March 4, 2008 but it’s another of my favorites. Marjorie Hinckley who was President Hinckley’s wife of the LDS church once said….

“I donโ€™t want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenkโ€™s lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighborโ€™s children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someoneโ€™s garden. I want to be there with childrenโ€™s sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.”

I loved this, and I keep her words close to my heart. I hope this inspires you throughout your life as well.

Thanks for joining me!
